Always enjoy viewing such art.
A few days ago, while visiting a B&M coin shop, a customer came in with a number of items that at best could be classified as junk. Most of it consisted of small items from the late 19Th and early 20Th centuries. Not much of value or collectors interest of any venue, but the junk from that period is so much more artful and displayed real human creativity, versus today's junk.

I became interested in French medals because it appeared that many of our (U.S.) designs of the 19th century were probably influenced by the works of some of the French masters. As a matter of fact, Irish-born Augustus Saint-Gaudens studied at the Ecoles des Beaux Arts in Paris from 1867-1870.
I wish the U.S. Mint would go back to using allegorical designs for our coinage. I'm tired of dead Presidents.
