Launched a new coin collection website!

I decided to scan my entire collection. Luckily, it's pretty small! But instead of keeping the scans hidden where only I can see them, I decided to make a new website to share them with the world.

Keep in mind, 90% of my world coins have come from buying by the pound. For Christmas this past year I got a Paypal gift card that I used to buy 6 pounds of world coins. So, most all of them are circulated. Some of them are really nasty. I don't care, I am just happy to have them.

My entire US collection post-64 and all cents from 1934 to current, nickels from 38-current were found in change. (and some previous on the cents, too!) Most Canadian cents from the 60s to current as well, lol.

And scans are not the greatest, either...but my coin pictures stink. So I went with this format to document them all.

This means that now I can look at my coins anytime, 24/7 without having to worry about getting them out, or having the nickel cause me problems, as I am allergic to it. Also less wear & tear on the coins themselves.

I know my collection is not great, and I have nothing particularly rare or valuable...but I love it just the same.

I've also decided to name my collection...I needed a title for the new site...so I named it the "Chasing History Collection". It's kind of silly considering I basically only add to it once a year, but my love of history is what drives my collecting.

I'm open to comments, good or bad.

You have started what should be a really fun project.  You already have more coins than I do, and a MUCH better variety.  We all collect in different ways, and we also enjoy seeing how others build their collections.  Thanks for posting the link for us.

Projects actually pretty much done until I get any new additions, which, as tradition seems to be holding, is for Christmas only. I do still have some more US to scan.

I like buying by the pound, because you have absolutely no clue what you will get. A lot of the fun for me is seeing what comes out of the bag, and then figuring out where it came from. Now that I have these scanned, if I get any duplicates ( every pound so far has yielded duplicates)  I don't have to put any wear and tear on the actual coins to check and see which one is better, I can just check the pictures!

The Edward I penny was the first thing I noticed.   I've never bought foreign coins by the pound, but it sounds like fun.  I have thought about buying the uncleaned ancient lots but haven't done it yet.
