...heading out to D.C.

We're heading to Washington D.C. in a few days. Anyone have suggestions as to what we should visit or things that are "must see"? We only have a day and a half (this is the only way we can get out for a vacation these days). We'll be in the National Mall area, and I was hoping to see a few of the Smithsonian museums and the monuments in that area.
Any other suggestions?

I've been regretting the fact that I missed seeing the Dead Sea Scrolls when they were here in Raleigh last summer. We just don't get the chance to get out that much, but I'm hoping to change that before all of the kids are grown.

Well, it rained all day..that is until it snowed. I swear we are some sort of magnet for snow - we went to the Blue Ridge parkway a few years back, and it snowed so much that they closed it off to visitors.... we went to the beach last year, and it snowed there too! (it was technically New Year's when we went, so we may have been asking for it.
)
Anyway, while in D.C. we saw the Air and Space museum (Awesome!!), the Natural History museum (pretty cool, but crowded)(, and then forced the kids to walk to the American History museum, but by then we were all tired. The Amercian History museum was a letdown, more pop-culture content than we were expecting.
All in all a nice trip, except for the rain. We really need to go back and see more that we didn't have the time for this trip.

I was wondering if you guys would be caught up in that snow storm.
Bad luck. But at least you got to see some great places.
