Talers from the NY show
« on: January 11, 2010, 09:41:39 PM »
The first coin is a 2Taler coin from Saxe-Old Cotha, and is 80mm in size. The second coin is a rare City View Taler from Regensburg with a minteage of 399.

Welcome back, regandon!  Those are both very cool, I love city view designs and the 2taler is just a super design.  I'm going to have to see one of those 80mm coins in person one day.  That must be a sight to behold! 8)   Thanks for sharing.

Wow!  That's an interesting piece.  I wonder about the symbols on these, the ones above the helmets.... I wonder what the story is behind that? (especially the Saxe-old Cotha 2 taler)

I was hopping someone would notice the rev. symbols on that one. I've been looking up the info, and will let you know what I find.

All very interesting, as usual. On the third piece posted, it looks like they are wearing diving helmets. I know that can't be the case, jut what it looks like to me.

I love the city view issues. Awesome design concept, I wish there were more of them around, in both sences of the word. More different issues done in that style, and more copies of the issues done in that style!
