1795 Conder Token with raised edge lettering
« on: May 14, 2012, 12:28:52 PM »
Here's an unusual Conder Token from Wales.

1795 Conder Token with Raised Edge Lettering • Wales, Glamorganshire 3a

I bought this token primarily because of its unusual edge lettering which is not incuse, but raised.
This token variety is rated 'Fairly Common.'

Actually, the lettering stands out within a wide groove in its edge.
I'll soon add photos of its edge lettering which seems to have been applied
to planchet before striking in a loose-fitting collar.

Estimated grade is MS-63 RB.

I have collected U.S coins for many years, and then Civil War Tokens, but am now actively building a collection of Conder Tokens,
the coins that made the Industrial Revolution a whopping success. : )
