Post Your Canadian Coins!

I just joined the forum and am interested in collecting lots of things but would especially like to see other folks' nice Canadian coins. Post your Canadian! Including Newfoundland, Prince Edward Island, Nova Scotia, tokens, whatever as long as it's north of the U.S.-Canada border! I'll start with a nice 1880 Newfoundland gold two dollars, MS61 PCGS, the key to the series, struck in the tiny amount of only 2,500 coins. Enjoy!

Thank you, Alan, it is nice to meet you as well. The Canadian large cents are a bundle of fun, are they not? That's a nice clean example of the 1882-H you posted. And there are so many varieties, so little time ...
Personally, I have always been partial to half dollars as well, and have quite a Registry Set of Kennedy Halves on the U.S. side. So it was natural for me to also concentrate on Canadian halves once the bug bit. I was fortunate enough to acquire this key issue.
The 1947 halves continued into 1948 when India gained its independence, since the new dies without ET IND IMP ("and Emperor of India") were not yet ready. A small Maple Leaf device was punched into the 1947 dies to indicate the 1948 mintage. On one of those dies (apparently only one, I read that in Charlton or Haxby someplace, don't remember where, although I am not sure if there are any other known die markers aside from the obvious ones), the 7 is Short and Curved Right. So this is a 1947 Maple Leaf, Curved Right 7 half; mine is a VF35 PCGS coin. A fellow Canadian collector friend of mine said, "Don't ever post that on your website, as you'll never find another one!" At any rate, it is a very rare coin. I note that even some of the top Canadian Registry Sets lack an example (although perhaps they are holding out for a higher-graded one than VF35).
Sorry for the photograph; it came out with a pinkish hue that the coin lacks. The coin is a medium silver-gray but does show some muted luster remaining around the devices on the reverse, especially.
1947 Maple Leaf Curved Right 7 Half Dollar, VF35 PCGS
Enjoy!
Best Regards,
George

Hello George.
That is just a great looking coin and so rare! you must be very happy with it.
I Had 50 Half Dollars, different dates all silver, but had to sell them I did quite well.
There is something about the large cent I am very fond of, you are correct so many varieties.
They are a lot of fun though, and I also like that one can put a nice set together for not a lot of money.
But there a few like the 1907 H that is a key date and can be a bit tricky.
i Just bought this one last night.
I have been putting an album together for a wile know, and it is starting to look like I have some coins in it. LOL
The coins are not so hard to find, it is finding them in good clean condition that can be hard.
All the best
Alan

Hi Alan, thanks for the link. I do track a lot of prices. I wonder why the link doesn't show Mint State prices? Thanks for sharing in any case.
Best Regards,
George

And the same to you!
My gift to myself was a 1947 Curved 7 Right Canadian half, beautifully toned MS63 PCGS. Pictures later!
