I think they each have their own charm, and I can't wait 'til I can get back out and look at some more of them.

You're right about the u.s. notes being bland, I remember the first time I saw one of the new designs with the new color variations, I thought it was stained or something...really ugly.  It really makes you appreciate the artistic effort that went into older coins and notes.

I'm probably going to make the long drive to the Raleigh show next weekend, hopefully I can find something to add to this budding set.

Check out the latest additions to both http://www.allnumis.com & http://www.banknotebank.com/collection/BCNumismatics .

There's some notes there that I have had for a few years, but I had not scanned before.

You can also see them up on Facebook as well.

Please let me know what you think.

Aidan.

Here's my latest aquisition. This is 1,000,000,000 Ruble from the TRANSCAUCASIAN SOVIET FEDERATED SOCIALIST REPUBLIC dated 1924. This was hyper-inflation money issued due to the economy being ravished from the Russian Civil War.

Beautiful note, Daniel!  I have to get me one of those.:)

Aidan, it's interesting that they would use the space shuttle on an Irish note.  Any ideas as to why?

Thanks 'FilthyBroke'. You find these pop up occasionally on Ebay. They are rather scarce though. The highest denomination is 10,000,000,000 Ruble which are very rare and command a much higher price. This one is an upgrade to one that I already have in my collection, which is barely passable as far as being collectible.

It is rather curious why the space shuttle is on a note from Northern Ireland. Interesting specimen for this reason alone.

Daniel & FilthyBroke,
I have no idea why the Space Shuttle was chosen to be depicted on the only British polymer plastic note.

Check out these 5 notes;

Bahamas N.D. 3 Dollars.

Bermuda 2000 2 Dollars.

Bermuda 2000 5 Dollars.

Rhodesia 1979 10 Dollars.

Tonga 1979 1/2 Pa'anga (50 Seniti).

Please let me know what you think.

Aidan.

Nice notes Aidan. I especially like the patterns on the notes for Bermuda. Thanks for posting these.

Daniel,
Bermuda's notes are very tough to find over here in New Zealand.

I haven't found anyone with the latest issue notes from Bermuda - or from the countries in the West Indies.

There's a few British Commonwealth West Indies commemorative notes that elude me - Bahamas 1992 1 Dollar & the Cayman Islands 2003 1 Dollar, being among them.

This is my latest addition. This is 5,000 Ruble from the KHWAREZM SOVIET PEOPLES REPUBLIC dated 1339 AH/1921 AD. Silk note printed with engraved wood blocks.
