Negative Toning
« on: March 13, 2011, 05:00:01 PM »

Here's one that was just so oddly toned that I couldn't pass on it (plus, for $3 I figured I could risk it;))

Post your negatively toned coins here, assuming I'm not the only one who finds toning fascinating. ;)

I mean, you can't even tell what kind of coin this is unless you see both sides! ???

I win the booby prize then? :D

It sure is a strange looking coin, but there is luster underneath.

I am curious as to what's under there.  I'd be afraid to try to do anything to it myself.

Come on now, just polish it out and it will look good as new.   ;)

I bet even a polishing would help this one. ;)

I have collected U.S coins for many years, and then Civil War Tokens, but am now actively building a collection of Conder Tokens,
the coins that made the Industrial Revolution a whopping success. : )

I don't know, that's a pretty good-looking Canadian dollar.  The obverse is sweet!  The reverse is nice too, the toning looks typical of what I've seen of that type.  Did it come from one of those mint velvet holders?  I think that's what gives them their unique look.
